About Impact Environmental
At Impact Environmental, we put clients on solid ground — and the same goes for the people who work here. Since 1989, we’ve carried projects from initial site assessment through regulatory closure, which means our people learn the whole process, not one narrow slice of it. We’re a multidisciplinary team of scientists, geologists, engineers, and field technicians, and we hire people who think critically and want to own their work. That means real field time, direct client contact, and mentorship at every step from senior professionals who’ve built their own careers here and are invested in yours.
The Role
We are hiring an Environmental Project Manager to lead New York projects from our Bohemia office. You will manage a portfolio of brownfield, due diligence, and remediation projects for a private-sector client base of developers, industrial property owners, institutions, and their counsel — and you will own both the technical quality and the financial performance of that portfolio. This is a hands-on project management role, not an administrative one. You will be in the field, in front of clients, and in front of regulators.
Flexibility
This is an in-person role — our project managers are in the office and in the field, because that’s where client relationships, field oversight, and mentorship actually take place. Within that, we support remote work when project schedules allow, and we work it out with each project manager.
What You Will Do
- Manage environmental projects across a range of local, state, and federal regulatory drivers, including the NYSDEC Brownfield Cleanup Program, NYC OER E-Designation and Voluntary Cleanup Program, RCRA, and Superfund.
- Plan and direct field investigation programs covering soil, soil vapor, and groundwater, including analytical program design, laboratory selection, and data evaluation.
- Evaluate subsurface conditions and develop remedial approaches that are technically defensible and constructible.
- Prepare and review work plans, technical reports, and regulatory correspondence with a focus on quality, defensibility, and meeting client and agency objectives.
- Direct project staff and subcontractors; develop scopes, cost estimates, and schedules and manage the work to them.
- Serve as day-to-day client contact, anticipate client needs, and build durable client relationships.
- Manage project financial performance, including budgets, change orders, invoicing, and profitability.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in geology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of New York environmental consulting, engineering, geology, or environmental science experience.
- Demonstrated ability to carry projects from scoping through regulatory closure.
- Strong technical writing, organizational, and client communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with industry-standard software.
- Willingness to be based in our Suffolk County office with travel into the five boroughs. Company vehicles are available.
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory under the company’s motor vehicle record policy.
Preferred, Not Required
- Professional license or certification: Professional Geologist (PG), Professional Engineer (PE), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, and OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety.
- Experience with Surfer, MODFLOW, AutoCAD, or GIS.
- Established business development relationships in the New York market.
Compensation and Benefits
$100,000 – $125,000 per year. Placement within the range depends on years of relevant New York regulatory experience, professional credentials, and demonstrated project management history.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Employer-paid life insurance and long-term disability coverage
- Retirement plan with company match
- Flexible Spending Account and Dependent Care Account
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Company vehicles available for field and site travel
- Employer-supported training, certification, and license renewal
Why Impact Environmental

A diverse private-sector client base means exposure to a wide range of project types and sizes across every stage of brownfield assessment, investigation, remediation, and redevelopment. We support the training, certifications, and licensure that move technical careers forward, and we give project managers real commercial responsibility.
Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Engineer
Bohemia, New YorkFull-Time | $26-30/hr
About Impact Environmental
At Impact Environmental, we put clients on solid ground — and the same goes for the people who work here. Since 1989, we’ve carried projects from initial site assessment through regulatory closure, which means our people learn the whole process, not one narrow slice of it. We’re a multidisciplinary team of scientists, geologists, engineers, and field technicians, and we hire people who think critically and want to own their work. That means real field time, direct client contact, and mentorship at every step from senior professionals who’ve built their own careers here and are invested in yours.
The Role
We have an immediate opening for an Environmental Scientist, Geologist, or Engineer based in our Bohemia office. A large part of this position is on job sites across Long Island and New York City — sampling, overseeing drilling and construction, and running remedial systems — with the balance spent evaluating data and building the reports that carry that work to the regulator.
If you want to stay technical and in the field while building toward project management, this is a role that gets you there.
We are open on discipline — environmental science, geology, and environmental engineering backgrounds all fit this role.
What You Will Do
- Perform and manage field tasks including soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling, and the operation and maintenance of remedial systems.
- Provide oversight of monitoring well installation, soil borings, drilling programs, and construction activities.
- Apply working knowledge of NYSDEC and NYSDOH regulations and guidance, including 6 NYCRR Part 375 and DER-10, to day-to-day field decisions.
- Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including NYC OER and Suffolk County Department of Health Services programs.
- Compile and evaluate analytical data and assist in report preparation.
- Write and contribute to technical reports on public and private sector projects.
- Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory personnel, tenants, and clients during field activities.
- Work to defined quality, budget, and schedule expectations on scope-specific assignments.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, or civil or environmental engineering.
- Two or more years of relevant environmental consulting experience, including demonstrated technical writing ability.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well within a professional, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to multi-task, stay flexible, travel to project sites, and work independently in the field.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing. Company vehicles are available for site travel.
Preferred, Not Required
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training with current 8-Hour refresher. Strongly preferred.
- Experience preparing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Remedial Investigation Work Plans, Remedial Action Work Plans, Final Engineering Reports, Site Management Plans, or SPCC plans.
- Familiarity with the NYSDEC Brownfield Cleanup Program or NYC OER E-Designation compliance.
- Working knowledge of computer-based CADD.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
This is a field-based position. With or without reasonable accommodation, the role requires the ability to:
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction and remediation sites.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and traverse uneven terrain for extended periods.
- Lift and carry field equipment and sample containers weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection where site conditions require it, subject to medical clearance and fit testing.
- Drive to and from project sites. Company vehicles are available for site travel.
Compensation and Benefits
$26.00 – $30.00 per hour. Placement within the range depends on relevant field and reporting experience and current certifications. These are non-exempt, hourly positions. Our field and project work is driven by site schedules, and overtime is paid in accordance with federal and state law. Field-intensive assignments regularly carry overtime, and it is a meaningful part of total annual earnings — something to factor in when comparing our posted hourly range against salaried roles elsewhere.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Employer-paid life insurance and long-term disability coverage
- Retirement plan with company match
- Flexible Spending Account and Dependent Care Account
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Company vehicles available for field and site travel
- Employer-supported training, certification, and license renewal
Why Impact Environmental
We do not just hire employees, we invest in them. Our unified services platform means field staff see the full arc of a project rather than one slice of it, and we pay for the training and certifications that make technical people more valuable. Advancement here is based on capability, not tenure.
