Environmental Project Manager

Bohemia, New YorkFull-Time | $100,000-$120,000/annual

Join us! Impact Environmental is a Long Island based environmental firm with 35 years of success specializing in Brownfield Redevelopment. We are in search of a Project Manager to be based from our Bohemia, NY office to lead New York projects. Candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of New York environmental consulting, engineering, geology, or environmental science experience. This position provides opportunities for personal and professional development by joining a growing team with a diverse private sector clientele, and to gain experience in many project types and sizes in all stages of brownfield assessment, investigation, remediation, and redevelopment.

 

Position Expectations:

  • Oversees diverse environmental projects with varied local, state (NY/NJ/CT) and federal regulatory drivers (i.e., City VCP, State Brownfields, RCRA, and Superfund).
  • Planning and directing environmental field observation and testing programs; including laboratory test selection and data evaluation.
  • Supervises staff in order to complete deliverables including resource cost estimating, scheduling, report preparation, technical memorandums, and contracts/proposals.
  • Understand client needs and is able to develop strong client relationships.
  • Capable of managing financial and technical aspects of projects.
  • Reviews and/or drafts technical reports and letters with a focus on quality and meeting client and regulatory objectives.
  • Evaluates subsurface characteristics for soil, soil vapor, and groundwater investigation and remediation projects.
  • Effective in assigning and managing work.

 

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience with a focus on applications of environmental investigations and remediation.
  • Computer Skills – Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in industry standard software.
  • Holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in geology, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a similar scientific major.
  • OSHA 40-hour (HAZWOPER) and/or OSHA 10-hour/30-hour (Construction Safety) certifications a plus.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, work product quality, teamwork, organizational skills, technical writing, and client service skills.
  • Willing to be based out of our Suffolk County Long Island office, with travel into New York City.
  • Professional certification(s) or licenses a plus (CHMM, PG and/or PE).
  • Business development leads a plus.
  • Experience with software (Surfer, MODFLOW, AutoCAD, GIS) a plus but not required.
  • Willingness to take drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy.

Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Engineer

Bohemia, New YorkFull-Time | $26-28 per hour

Impact Environmental has an immediate opening for a motivated Environmental professional reporting to our Long Island, NY office. A large part of the position will be on job sites around Long Island and to NYC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledge of New ork State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and NYC Office of Environmental Remediation (NYCOER) regulations and guidance.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform and manage technical tasks such as fieldwork, including sampling, operations and maintenance of remedial systems.
  • Well installation, soil boring, drilling and construction oversight.
  • Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
  • Report writing on environmental projects in the public and private sector.
  • Participate in functions involving contact with client representatives.
  • Work/coordinate/communicate with project team personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, geology, or environmental science is required.
  • Direct experience in essential duties listed above, including demonstrated ability in technical writing.
  • Direct experience in preparing documents such as Phase I and II ESAs, PAs, SIRs, RIRs, RAWs, RARs, and SPCCs is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required; knowledge of computer-based CADD a plus.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training are strongly preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication/interpersonal skills are a must, as well as the ability to thrive in a professional and team-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must be wiling to consent to drug and background screening.

Associate Project Manager

Bohemia, New YorkFull-Time | $36-$40/hr

Impact Environmental has an immediate opening for an Associate Project Manager with 5 plus years of full-time environmental engineering, geology, or environmental science experience to join our team to work on New York projects.

Position Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills required;
  • Self-driven and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision and direction;
  • Experience with execution of Phase I ESAs and scoping/implementation of Phase II ESAs;
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations related to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Site Remediation Programs and New York City Office of Environmental Remediation (NYCOER) Volunteer and E-designation programs.
  • Experience with site characterization assessments, strong analytical capability for evaluating and interpretation of data from various media, preparing technical reports with findings/recommendations with Project Manager and Principal guidance and review;
  • Ability to coordinate and manage field tasks and activities;
  • Preparing proposals, tracking project budgets, and reviewing contracts;
  • Fundamental understanding of remediation treatability/pilot studies and design for various types of media (e.g., soil vapor extraction or sub-slab depressurization);
  • Overseeing and documenting environmental remedial actions; and
  • Managing and mentoring junior staff of scientists/field technicians.

Experience with following areas are considered a plus:

  • AutoCAD proficiency;
  • Professional Licensure or Registration; and
  • Preparing Long Island Well Permits, SPDES permits, and NYC sewer discharge permit applications.

General Requirements:

  • Based out of our Bohemia, Ny office, with travel throughout the greater NY area;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Comfortable with logistics coordination and working with outside consultants, vendors and service providers;
  • Team-oriented, safety conscious individual with a positive attitude and strong work ethic;
  • OSHA 40 hour (HAZWOPER) and/or OSHA 30 hour (Construction Safety) certifications a plus;
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record with  no DUI’s, excessive or major violations in the last 5 years;
