Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Engineer

Impact Environmental has an immediate opening for a motivated Environmental professional reporting to our Long Island, NY office. A large part of the position will be on job sites around Long Island and to NYC.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledge of New ork State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and NYC Office of Environmental Remediation (NYCOER) regulations and guidance.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform and manage technical tasks such as fieldwork, including sampling, operations and maintenance of remedial systems.
  • Well installation, soil boring, drilling and construction oversight.
  • Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
  • Report writing on environmental projects in the public and private sector.
  • Participate in functions involving contact with client representatives.
  • Work/coordinate/communicate with project team personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, geology, or environmental science is required.
  • Direct experience in essential duties listed above, including demonstrated ability in technical writing.
  • Direct experience in preparing documents such as Phase I and II ESAs, PAs, SIRs, RIRs, RAWs, RARs, and SPCCs is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required; knowledge of computer-based CADD a plus.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training are strongly preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication/interpersonal skills are a must, as well as the ability to thrive in a professional and team-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must be able to pass drug and background screening.
